Mural Depiction
This mural is on the east window slider of the Benson Museum. The image depicts the last wagon transport leaving Benson as the first Southern Pacific Train comes through. The town was officially founded when the first train came through in 1880.
Background Information
Benson was named after George Benson, a friend of the owner of the Southern Pacific Rail Road in 1880 when planned as a major stop on its east west run and a branch route to Tombstone and Nogales, Mexico.
